There’s one thing I do every day — make a latte!
I was never much of a coffee drinker — only went to Starbucks for the seasonal favorites or when I needed a boost of energy to complete a project by the deadline. Last spring, hubby and I started thinking about buying an espresso machine and after a few months of looking around at our options, we settled on the Mr. Coffee Cafe Barista.
Best. Purchase. EVER!
With some gifted cash and a 20 percent off coupon (the one you get in your mailbox every other week), we snagged an awesome deal at Bed, Bath & Beyond…and I’ve used the machine at least once a day since we bought it. If you’re someone who goes to Starbucks daily and wants to start making cappuccinos or lattes at home, this machine is worth every penny — not to mention you could easily save yourself a couple hundred dollars a month by making coffee drinks at home.
The one-touch options to create a latte or cappuccino is what sold me on this machine. I simply have to hit the button of my choice once for a single shot espresso beverage, or twice for a double shot espresso beverage (my usual choice). It also allows you to create a custom serving if you wanted to make an Americano, Cortadito or any number of other drinks. Once the button is selected, you just stand back and watch the milk and espresso come together like magic in under a minute. Can you tell I am in love?
One product I have at all times in my house (okay, maybe there are 11 bottles in here at this very moment) is Torani — maker of all things delicious, a.k.a coffee and Italian soda syrups, sauces and blended drink bases. These syrups help me make countless lattes using recipes from their website or making up my own concoctions!
For those of us who like to indulge but are watching our food/drink intake, the range of Sugar Free options is great — currently, there are over 30 different sugar free syrups to use in your coffee drinks (or to make Italian sodas!). Options include:
- Brown Sugar Cinnamon
- Irish Cream
- Salted Caramel
The sugar free syrups contain Splenda, which gives it a hint of sweetness without that artificial aftertaste other sugar substitutes leave (in my opinion).
Using fat free milk, fat free whipped topping and a sugar free Torani syrup, you can indulge in a delicious latte at only 2 Weight Watcher’s Points Plus (when using a cup of milk). I add a dash of cinnamon sugar sprinkles on top for that extra wow factor!
Do you drink coffee? What are some of your go-to options at home or at the coffeehouse?
