This time of year means hot chocolate and apple cider are must-have drinks — especially if you love going out looking at Christmas lights or doing holiday shopping in the evening. While I know you can find fat-free hot chocolate mixes out there, sometimes homemade is much better, but many of the hot cocoa drinks I find call for half-and-half or some sort of cream.
Yesterday, Dashing Dish featured this amazing skinny hot chocolate recipe — which is perfect to whip up a batch for yourself or hand it out as a gift. The last few years I have been trying to make my Christmas gifts, and mixes like this are good for the budget and add a special touch to the holidays. Not to mention, many of my friends are health-conscious, so this skinny mix is just perfect for them!
Here’s the recipe, which you can also find on Katie’s website (which you MUST check out. I love all of her recipes!!)
Skinny Hot Chocolate
6 tbs unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 cup dry nonfat milk powder
1 tsp cornstarch
1 tsp salt
3/4 cup baking stevia
Mix the ingredients together in a bowl and then add to a pretty container — a small mason jar with ribbon and a gift tag looks super festive.
To make, just add a tablespoon of the mix to a cup of skim milk, water or almond milk. If you want to make it a little more Christmas-y, add some mini marshmallows or crushed peppermint candy to the top.
In each batch, there are 16 servings — 0 PPV (0 g Fat, 3 g Carb, 1 g Fiber, 1 g Protein). Zero points in my book is a WIN.
